That said, I’m using a method that you can use to make your first sale, typically in a couple of months if not sooner.

The Good News?
You’ll reach a point where the growth and earnings, for your niche site, begin to increase exponentially!
But there are some things you’re going to need to do to create the environment for this to happen.
Word of caution – contrary to the so-called “Gurus”, shysters and unscrupulous, snake oil salesmen hawking their wares – trying to make you believe in get-rich-quick schemes and magic “push button” systems – this won’t be quick nor easy.
No. This will take time, effort, commitment and consistency.
It will NOT happen overnight!
But it will happen – a few steps you’ll need to take:
- Pick a profitable niche
- Get a domain name /web hosting
- Create a website (here’s a step-by-step guide)
- Create content
- Establish a consistent writing/publishing schedule
- Focus on providing value not making sales
- Drive traffic to your site
Practically, you’ll want to create about 120 blog posts over the first year. Preferably the first 25 or 30 in the first 60 days.

If you ask most experienced affiliate marketers, they’ll tell you that the first sale is the hardest.
Why?
Because it takes time to build the infrastructure necessary to properly start and sustain your business.
Particularly if you’re going to be driving mostly organic traffic to your site, it will take time to gain traction and to get Google rankings.
But to answer the question of how long to make your first sale with affiliate marketing, typically you should be able to make a sale in the first couple of months.
Yes, this can seem like a long time but remember this – the deeper the foundation the taller the building. You are building a foundation for future success.

For whatever reason, $100 week seems to be the first benchmark beginning affiliate marketers shoot for. So when can you expect that to happen?
Again, a lot of factors here. One of the most important factors to consider is the affiliate products you sell. Most beginners often start with the Amazon Affiliate Program (as did I).
Why?
It’s easy to get started. There are no strict requirements to get started such as a certain level of traffic. Also, you’re promoting a site that has high brand awareness.
So there are certain aspects to the Amazon model that are attractive.
But, to be honest, I no longer put a lot of effort in promoting Amazon products. For several reasons:
- Relatively low commissions
- No recurring payments
- After having a record year (2020) Amazon (Jeff Bezos) slashed affiliate commissions
For me, there are much better options/affiliate networks that pay a lot bigger commissions.
For example, Clickbank has a ton of products you can promote with higher commissions and, what is an absolute requirement for me, recurring commissions.
It takes just as much effort to make a one-time sale as it does to make one which pays you recurring commissions so why not go for the latter.

The question is… what’s a full time income?
There’s a consensus that approximately $50k – 60k is an income that most can live pretty comfortably on. So we’ll use this figure as a full time income.
Given that, how long will it take you to reach a full time income affiliate marketing?
According to the guys over at Income School, using their Project 24 Method, (the one I use) you should be able to reach this level of income in just under 24 months.
Now, I don’t know about you but to be able to start from scratch and make 60k a year of PASSIVE income is pretty impressive.
Project 24, as far as I’m concerned, is the best program available. It provides you with an actionable, repeatable, no-fluff system for making a living with passive income.
Except for Authority Hacker system, which has similarities, there is nothing like it.
And, for me, Project 24 is better. It’s less expensive, their body of free YouTube videos is extensive, and they seem generally interested in helping you succeed.
Just watch their videos and their passion is evident.
In total, you’re going to need a couple of hundred blog posts, possibly some YouTube video as well before you make this kind of income.
To accomplish that, you’ll need to publish about 10 posts per month over the two years.

Getting to the full time income status should be doable in about two years.
It does require an exceptional amount of effort, especially in the beginning, but after that it gets easier.
